June Guest Artists The O’Donnells

Australian family bluegrass band “The O’Donnells” are a three-generation act who won hearts across the country on Channel 7’s “The Voice Generations” (Feb 2022). They love introducing audiences to bluegrass in fun, unexpected ways—delivering toe-tapping tunes with a big dose of family charm that connects with all ages. Performing at Redlands are John and Wendy O’Donnell, with the next generation close behind: their son John Jnr, and daughters Jacqui Power and Katelyn O’Donnell. Rounding out the line-up are three grandchildren—Johnny (13), Amy (8), and the newest member, Abigail (Jacqui’s five-year-old daughter). Jacqui is based in Ipswich, while the rest of the family call Logan home. The family also love putting their own stamp on well-known songs—“O’Donnellising” favourites into high-energy bluegrass. Their take on Lady Gaga’s “The Edge of Glory” quickly became a standout. The TV producers loved it too, choosing it as their first audition song and landing them a spot on Keith Urban’s team. That TV performance—featuring their 90-second “Edge of Glory”—is still a social media favourite, with more than 5 million views on YouTube. Since “The Voice”, they’ve released a full studio recording, plus a new clip of the family playing at home in Logan City, QLD. The O’Donnells are excited to bring their bluegrass show to the Redlands Modern Country Music Club.
